Perambulation means “walking around”. In traditional English law, it is used specifically to mean “determining the bounds of a legal area by walking around it”, meaning physically walking around the region in question.

The pictures have been taken during a walk in the surroundings. Some hundred meters to go, wilderness ! Surroundings are the area around a given physical or geographical point or place. The exact definition depends on the field. Surroundings can also be used in geography (when it is more precisely known as vicinity, or vicinage) and mathematics, as well as philosophy, with the literal or metaphorically extended definition.
