Leaving Home

A story a lot of families have to go through. One day it just becomes impossible to continue to stay at home. It is the memory. We do not live any more in the same time. Taking care becomes a burden. One day much to difficult. Leaving home, the only exit.

Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative disease that most commonly occurs in people over the age of 65 and is characterized by increasing dementia. It is responsible for around 60% of the approximately 24 million cases of dementia worldwide.

The pictures document the very moving and sad days when Matthias Kochs father-in-law had to leave the house and village where he had spent 87 years - his life.
